Description When people think 'wild Florida' they think swamp, gators, untouched beaches. But wild Florida is not always that dramatic. Sometimes it's an understated scene of cabbage palms and fallen trees, smilax briars and palmettos. Still preferable to condos and shopping malls, this is the unhurried simplicity that is wild Florida.
Phil Penne, Clearwater Member Since August 2014 Artist StatementMy photographs are my children.
Photography has been an important element of my life for over forty years. I use a digital camera, but have in the past used 35 millimeter, medium format, 'folding plate' cameras (including my favorite, a 1928 Zeiss-Ikon Donata) and several pinhole cameras of my own construct. Pinhole photography is still my favorite, even though I haven't done it in some time. There is something raw and perfect about this most ancient of photographic techniques that carries with it a certain allure.
