Current Gallery: landscapes ( piece)
I’m usually sitting at a stop light slightly bored on a usual commute when I notice the natural shapes, light formations, and rich colors of the clouds. There are always interesting colors and values, and the various sizes and shapes amaze me as they fill the sky differently everyday. Then, there’s a cell phone tower, telephone pole, or street light obstructing the view, or breaking the beauty up into little pieces of reality. I became fascinated with the juxtaposition of these elements many years back as cell phone antennae started appearing on church steeples, and wind turbines filled our long drives through central Illinois. As large and encroaching as an impeding storm, the technology taking over our airspace is now part of our landscape. Before people start honking, I fuss with turning off the “I’m not driving” feature on my iPhone then take a picture of the scene, so I can paint it later.
