Current Gallery: naturesrhythms ( piece)
“Nature’s Rhythms” reflects the continuous changes of nature; the fall of leaves and re-growth, cycles of rain and drought, the rise and setting of the sun, waxing and waning of the moon, life and death. Nature is alive and always changing. Our lives move in a circular movement with regular timing and reoccurrences. The way the human spirit dances with these changes can affect our emotions and moods. This work attempts to represent these changes through bursts of pulsating lines and organic forms. My paintings are a reminder of those quiet, nourishing moments not distracted by the noise of technology and modern life; absorbing the sounds, the way the wind whispers over the grass and through the trees, the drip off a leaf after a fresh rain. This primitive connection with nature is a reminder of the roots keeping one grounded. I am inspired by Mehndi tattoo designs and use them often in my work using India ink. Gustav Klimt, “The Master of Shapes and Pattern” and Vincent Van Gogh are also a large source of inspiration. The eminence of light and color communicate a feeling, the weather, or a season. Like searching for shapes in the clouds, nature provides a source of creativity through its patterns and forms.
