Inspired by dramatic landscapes, colorful characters and anything equine, Sam employs a variety of mediums to express her fascination with these subjects. Semi-precious stones and metals, textiles, leather, found objects, pastels and paints make up her pallet, and constitute much of the mess in her atelier. The patterns of weather, daylight and inspiration divide her time between the studio and the saddle. She is happiest fluctuating between outdoors and in as the spirit moves her, often encountering ideas for a new piece while absorbed in ranch chores or putting quiet miles on a young horse.
