Description I remember when I first arrived in Vilseck, on March 21st 2003. The soldier who was my sponsor picked me up at the base where my unit was located and, after making sure I had a place to stay, took me into town for dinner. My first view of Vilseck was very similar to what you see here, except that it was about 7pm and dark out. For many members of the U.S. Army, this is the first view of Vilseck. For those that end up living in Vilseck, it's a view that they'll see hundreds of times throughout their stay.
In my case, I would travel straight across the intersection, through an alley, follow the alley as it became a street that curved around the town's church, making a right at the pink house and following the street for about half a kilometer before arriving at my apartment, which was in the second house from the edge of town. Or something like that...
