Description This really is a tiny green spider, about 3mm in length, sat on a tiny Jatropha bud. I have taken the Canon MP-E 65mm 1-5X Macro on a second outing and am in awe of its abilities in producing magnification far above any other lens on the market. This spider has such small legs that the rest of the plant is seen shining through. You can also see its double eyes peeking between its legs (spiders have several eyes). I abandoned the Pringles tube for the flash lighting on this shot, due to the position of the flower, and hand held the flash, (remotely fired) above and to the left of the shot. The red background is more of the tiny individual flowers of the jatropha. I do normally like to give you details about the wildlife I post, but, while insects are my passion, arachnids are an area of natural history I have never spent time on and I have no books to aid identification. all I can tell you is that it is small, green and was found outside by Mrs Bennett. It looked very smooth and it was not until I got this shot could I see that up close it was in fact very hairy and a little scary!!
