Description The goddess is surrounded by her symbols: the moon, her husband Osiris as Orion in the night sky, and the star Sirius A above her head. The pyramids of Giza are not aligned with the stars in this painting as they are in reality, but this painting is all about the symbolism. The Nile lotuses and the cobra are also sacred to Isis. I also wanted Isis to have a really interesting, strong face. Shes a very strong personality, after all!
Asha Hawkesworth, Gresham Member Since August 2016 Artist Statement I love to paint and write. I am the author of several children's books, including "Grandma's Roses" and "Don't Bother Boris!" My art is inspired by the natural world, the realm of spirit, and my own children, who have collaborated with me on occasion. I currently reside in Oregon with my family and quite a few cats. In addition to painting, I love to work in my garden, bake, and enjoy the comforts of home.
