Description On Saturday 4-10-2010, at 1447 hours, I captured this photo at Willow Springs Lake which was located about 33 miles East of Payson, and about 2 miles East of Woods Canyon Lake. My 9 year old son Kameron and I hiked in through the approximate 1 foot deep snow which covered the road into Willow Springs. (about 1 mile inward) The gate was closed but some people were hiking in to fish. We didnt catch anything, but I seized the moment when the rock formation and half covered lake with snow and ice captured my eye. I shot this with a 12MP Nikon D-700, 14 Bit RAW, with a 24-120mm Nikon Lens (at 24mm), ISO 320, 1/125th Sec, at F 18, at 5750 Degrees Kelvin, with a Nikon SB-900 Flash in manual mode at 1 for 1 power. I shot this free handed. I lightened up the foreground with the flash (diffuser attached) after getting the right depth of field. I adjusted the photo in CS3, applied Levels (22 / 1.00 / 255) and brushed 50 % of it away in the foreground. I added a Curves adjustment to (Output 145 / Input 154) and brushed away 50% of the adjustment in the foreground. I didnt want to make the foreground to dark for print purposes. Saturated it to + 18, and made a controlled layer to Burn a little of the sky (5 %) I Sharpened it to Highpass 1.3. I saved in Layers.
